Integrated Training

Although we offer scheduled training courses we realise that it is however not easy for your staff to be out of office for a full day / week, that you may wish to have the content tailored to your specific needs and that the team will have questions and need support as they implement what they have learnt.

There are many ways we can tailor the course, below is an example of one way.

An example schedule

This course focusses on providing support to the sustainability team and the proposed sessions are for a team of about 15 participants for a ¾ day (9:00 to 3:30 with half an hour for lunch). It includes ongoing support around the strategy and implementation of the green team.  The review recaps the previous training session and provides an opportunity to discuss any problems that might have been encountered during the implementation phase.
Here is an example of the different sessions, their content  and an implementation timeframe.

Session 1, Q1

  • Highlights on sustainability and climate change
  • Importance of a green team & sustainability strategy
  • Setting up the implementation plan and way forward

Session 2, Q2

  • Review of previous session and check on progress of team
  • Highlights on energy and waste – practical training
  • Green team and way forward

Session 3, Q3

  • Review of previous sessions and check on progress of team
  • Highlights on water and biodiversity – practical training
  • Green team and way forward

Session 4, Q4

  • Review of previous sessions and check on progress of team
  • Eco Audit intro, EMS, Monitoring & Reporting – practical training
  • Green team and way forward

Each of these sessions focus on specific support for the sustainability team to enable them to implement the sustainability strategy over the long-term.  It is more than just training, but it is internal capacity building that helps to structure the behaviour change and encourage sustainable living.

These  sessions would focus on the green team, but it is critical that the rest of the staff also receive training, including the contract staff such as the cleaners, security and catering. Training for the support staff is naturally of a more practical of nature and would initially focus on what they can do in their homes.  Once they understand this then it is a natural progression to how this can be implemented at the workplace.  This training could be planned for the following year once the green team strategy rolls out.

Support

We can also provide ongoing support for the “Green Team” over the duration of the training if required.  This can be done on a retainer bases depending on the needs of the company, or could be limited to interaction during training.

To encourage ongoing interaction and encouragement we arrange outings and workshops for our sustainability teams.  This provides them with practical learning experiences, as well as networking opportunities with sustainability teams from other companies.

We can also provide ongoing support to the teams as they explore their journey towards a more sustainable future.

Delivery

Our bespoke training is usually delivered in the form of interactive workshops presented by experienced icologie facilitators using a variety of media. Emphasis is placed on experiential learning activities and practical hands-on demonstrations (such as solar water heaters, water-efficient shower heads, electricity consumption etc.) using the Smart Living Exhibition equipment.
